emacs 24.2.90.1 error related to previous-emacs child defunct process

I've been using GNU Emacs 24.2.90.1 (i686-pc-cygwin, GTK+ Version 3.4.4) of 2012-11-27 since the cygwin standard emacs package hung waiting on a child process which had gone defunct.  These continuing error messages may indicate there is still a problem.

(emacs:2844): GLib-WARNING **: In call to g_spawn_sync(), exit status of a child process was requested but SIGCHLD action was set to SIG_IGN and ECHILD was received by waitpid(), so exit status can't be returned. This is a bug in the program calling g_spawn_sync(); either don't request the exit status, or don't set the SIGCHLD action.
