Yes, c:\cygwin is the default location but your error message said
c:\cgwin (missing the 'y').  I pointed that out as a hint for you to
hunt for that typo elsewhere.

Sad to say, I don't have any special insight here.

I'm updating cygwin on one of my machines (long past due) and will be on
the lookout for this kind of problem.
